I am getting some quirky search results in a portal search, and this is
absolutely baffling me. In short, different users are getting different
sets of search results, when those users have access to the same sets of
documents.
I have a WSS site that contains a document library called All Documents.
The document library has a metadata field called Job Code, which is
automatically populated with a specific value.
When I go to the site and look in a view that contains the Job Code
field, every document (there are 75 total) is correctly tagged with the
value defined for the field.
All of the documents were added to the site and tagged in June and July.
An incremental inclusive index runs nightly.
Users A and B have access to the site and to the document library.
What is strange is that when I do a search from the portal on the value
for the job code field, I am getting different results depending on who
I am.
When User A logs in, 73 of the documents are returned. However, when
User B logs in, only 7 documents are returned.
Other sites have an All Documents library with a similar Job Code field,
but a different default value. When I do portal searches on those
values, I get similarly inconsistencies.
Does anyone have some thoughts on things I can investigate?
