Quicklaunch Dot Errors

Asked By: Travon    Date: Mar 31    Category: MOSS    Views: 686

I have recently jumped full time into MOSS development and I have
noticed some awesome features. One of my favorites so far is the
ability to force a masterpage or theme to a site and all of its
subsites. While playing with this I found the following error

If you look at the screenshot in the quicklaunch you will notice a
circle around the error. There is a bunch of dots in the bar and you
can't read what it says. What I found so funny about the error is
it's "out of the box". I did not change any CSS or definitions. I
simply went to page and noticed the error.

I am pretty sure you could easily fix this through either CSS file or
in the site definition.

I ran into this issue when I upgraded from Beta 2 to Beta 2 TR. In my case, I'd applied a custom theme  to sub sites using a Feature. Deactivating then reactivating the Feature post upgrade seemed to reset the theme and the dots went away. If you upgraded - check that you're using the latest themes. Also, try going into the site  Settings > Site Theme and applying one of the default themes before switching back to your custom theme.

I encountered this issue as well, turned out that in the css  the attribute was set to repeat. I set it to No repeat and the prob was solved. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the class off the top of my head...

Like I said, I figure it is a pretty easy fix, just need to look in the CSS to find the cause. Just thought that it was a funny error.

Just FYI: I'm getting these strange "dots" when using the RSS viewer
and certain themes.
