I believe, by default, SP only index the current version of the doc,
i.e. as a new version is added, the index of the older version will be
discarded (or hidden) and new one is added to the index. Thus, searching
a keyword that exists only in the old version will not find the current
version.

My questions are:

1. Is there a configuration option that I may have missed
that allows SP 2007 search service to index all existing versions and
enable search for all versions. I understand this will increase the
index size considerably so it would even be better if such option can be
done per document library or per site.
2. Even though you can change the ACL from version to
version, I believe there is only one ACL for one doc, i.e. user A was
not given permission for version 1.x but was granted read access
starting version 2.0. As a result, he can access both version 2.x and
1.x.

I appreciate any help you can provide in answering these or confirming
my understanding.
