I have several web applications and I'm trying to set up Search. I have
two problems and can't seem to find a setting that would fix either of
these:

1. Our main portal has many links to pages on a different domain name
(old html pages on an old Intranet). When the crawl is finished I have
a couple of thousand errors where the url that is report is
http://sharepoint/units/ps/pagename.asp
<http://sharepoint/units/ps/pagename.asp> The problem is, the
http://SharePoint <http://SharePoint> part is the correct path for the
portal but the rest (units/ps/pagename.asp) is on a different domain.
How do I get search to follow the link correctly (it is spelled out
completely as http://otherdomain/pagename
on the SharePoint page)?

2. Everytime I run the search, it stops the application pool for the
main portal. All the other webapps aren't touched because I haven't run
a search on them yet. What setting is telling Search to stop the app
pool?

I'm working with the Administrator's Guide and have gone over Chapter 16
religiously. I'm either missing something or just don't understand what
I'm reading.
