Question about Medium Web Farm Restore - SP 2003

Asked By: Hiral    Date: Feb 01    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 645

I need to bounce something off the group to make sure that I am not
overlooking something. I are currently running a SP 2003 medium web far
with a cluster SQL 2000 server. We are gearing up to migrate the portal
to a separate clustered SQL 2005 server. This will be the first time we
have change the topology of our current SharePoint environment so we are
a bit nervous. We have successfully done it in our development
environment but that was a simple small farm.

We plan on doing a basic restore but I am not sure of the order of bring
the servers back up. When we built the web farm, we had to do a partial
install SP on the first web server and then install it on the second web
server and then the index server (up until we got to the configure
server farm account settings) one that was done I went back to server #1
and create the configuration database and then go to the other two
servers and connect them to the newly created configuration database.
Once the servers are connected to the configuration database, I then
change the component assignments. And then restore the portal.

Is this correct? Am I overlooking anything?
