Proxy Servers connecting to MOSS server

Can this architecture work?

Proxy Server -> MOSS web/app server -> Database

There is also a separate MOSS Index Server

Basically I need to know if I can have the MOSS web and app servers
residing on the same machines, and then have another proxy server
talking to MOSS. The MOSS will communicate with Database and Index
Server.

If you mean by proxy, say, ISA then, yes, that's supported - ISA 2006
will even provide the form for front end logon into moss
