Property Query in Search Scope: "error" under number of items?

  Asked By: Alec    Date: May 03    Category: MOSS    Views: 2343

I tried something for the first time that I thought was pretty straightforward
MOSS stuff, but it doesn't seem to work and I'm stumped. I'm changing the All
Sites scope in MOSS to add a rule for a property query, so it excludes documents
that I've flagged as "Obsolete." So I just want to stop showing obsolete
documents in search results, right? And I've added an "obsolete" column to my
document libraries and mapped it to a managed property for use in search scope

But no matter how I add the rule "Obsolete = Yes --> Exclude" in the search
scopes page, it accepts the rule but just keeps returning the word "error" under
the number of items.

Any idea where I should go to troubleshoot this, or what the likely cause might
be? I don't see any relevant errors in the Event log. The Obsolete field is a
valid managed yes/no property. This seems like it's pretty close to a textbook
example of modifying a search scope, so what could I be messing up?

Under the "Scope Property and Rules" page I see:

Behavior Item Count (approximate)
All Content
Include (all items)

contentclass=urn:content-class:SPSPeople Exclude

Obsolete = yes
Exclude error
Total: 15616
