Need Profiles from Two OUs

Asked By: Judith Hammond         Date: Aug 11, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 139

I read a discussion here from a year or so ago about trying to get
profiles from two OUs. Apparently that is not possible because you
can't string the OUs together in the Search base.

Can we import some of the profiles with the Active Directory connection
and then use LDAP to point at another OU in the same domain? If so,
could someone help us with setting up the provider?

So, this is a hokey workaround, but it usually works...

Create one Active Directory connection to the pre-Windows 2000 name, i.e.
"Contoso"
Create a second Active Directory connection to the FQDB, i.e. "contoso.msft"

Our shop is big enough that AD is handled
by a totally different group of people. I sent my guy your response and
he translate that second line for the non-AD types like me (Fully
Qualified Domain Name). He told me what to use and it worked like a
charm! I now have imports from both OUs successfully and can run
incremental updates as needed.
