Problems with SPPersistedObject and persisting data

  Asked By: Mack    Date: Oct 14    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1015

Has anyone had any experience using a SPPersistedObject? I have a custom
object that I created that inherits from this object and specifies some
custom properties that I would like persisted to the configuration database.
My understanding is that all I should need to do is create this object, set
my properties, and then call Update() method and it should persist my
information to the configuration database. However, when I call the Update
method, it gives me this error:

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at
Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPPersistedObject.Update()" .

Does anybody have any ideas what I could be missing that would cause this
error to occur?
