Problem with"New Items are added" alert

Asked By: Cara    Date: Jan 27    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1562

I'm not recieving email notifications when i setup a new alert for
when a "new item is added" to a document library. I get the
notifications when the "All changes" alert is setup and also when i
create a new alert of any type.

have any of you experienced this before?

I have no problem receiving alerts (setup in an identical manner) on
another site collection.

Do daily and weekly alerts  work? Do immediate alerts work?

If daily and weekly alerts do not work, it may not be crawled correctly
(not defined as a content source).

I've not tried the daily / weekly alerts. I've found that the same
alert configured on a different site  (within the same site
collection) works without any issues.

Do yo uhave any idea what it could be?

let us know if you figure it out? Are these custom list defs maybe?
Custom site  defs?

I set these alerts  up on a standard document  library. Will post a

The Daily Alerts do not work either. How can I check if the
it is defined as a content source?

I tried the following stsadm commands and didn't have much luck.

stsadm -o setproperty -propertyname alerts-enabled -propertyvalue
false -url <team site>

stsadm -o setproperty -propertyname alerts-enabled -propertyvalue true
-url <team site>

stsadm -o setproperty -propertyname job-immediate-alerts
-propertyvalue "every 5 minutes" -url <team site>

In order to try this on a fresh site  i created a new team site which
inherited permissions form the parent site, and created an alert.
After receiving  the initial email  which notified me that the alert  had
been set up, I didn't receive any other emails. however when i broke
the inheritance from the parent site i started getting the alerts.

However, the original site which i am experiencing problems on does
not inherit permissions form the parent.
