Problem in SPS 2001

Asked By: Sydney    Date: Aug 10    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 872

We are using SPS 2001 version with SP2A. We have created 9
workspaces and all were working fine. We are facing a peculiar
problem now. I have logged in as the domain administrator in the SPS
server and the login has the coordinator permissions for all the
workspaces. But now for half of the workspaces, coordinator menu
(i.e. Content, settings, layout menu) is not displayed and
only `Help' is getting displayed. This is not only in the server. If
I login into a different network computer in the administrator
login, the coordinator menu is not getting displayed. Due to this we
are not able to add / modify the existing portals. Can anyone help
us in resolving the issue?

My guess is that someone has changed the security on the folders. Try
opening the location in a web folder and go to the parent folder of the ones
you are having problems with and start looking at the security settings

I had a problem  with this about a year ago and found out that only 2
workspaces should be located on one server otherwise strange things
start to happen such as loosing some of you menu items, etc. The
workspaces seem to work fine for a while and they then begin to
gradually begin to fall apart! Try spreading your workspaces out to
several servers and your problems will disappear!
