Problem sending file to records center

I am hoping someone can help me. I am trying to establish a records
center in our development environment. I have created a records center
and everything seemed to be working fine untl I tried to set it up so
that I could send a document from a document library to the records
center. When I attempt to do this, I get the following error: Error
occurred while sending the file to the AMS Records Center Records Center

I set everything up correctly I think. However, I did not establish the
records center using a separate web application. Is this required? Any
assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I think I remember having a problem like this. Does the site that has
Records Center exist on a different web application than the one that
has the document library?

Do they exist then on different app pools?

Did you configure the Site you created as the Record Center on the Web
Application tab of Central Administration?

Make sure you removed 'portal' from the send-to location in Central Admin. Also
check that the sending Web application pool identity is in the web submitters
group in the records center.

No, a separate Web app is not required. However, check that the configuration in
Central Administration is correct and that permissions are also correctly set.
There's a whitepaper which discusses in detail the overall records Center
configuration (including management of e-mail records) available on the
Mindsharp premium Web site:-

It does not require a separate web application or even site collection. A
couple things to check:

1) Double-check the URL used for the "Send To" and make sure it's pointing to
the correct web service URL
2) Make sure you are not running as the same user account that is used to run
the app pool.
