Problem PDF documents

Asked By: Code    Date: Dec 08    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1382

I have more problem:

We have added some PDF files to our intranet site, but some of them
cannot
be opened. This is the error message:

"File does not begin with '%PDF-'.

This happens with files  containing special characters for some reason. They
will open fine into a standalone Acrobat session and only fail when using the
plug-in.

This means that the PDF if not a PDF. Any PDF file  must have the "PDF"
signature in its header. We just had a problem  recently - exactly the same
problem. The users thought they had checked in the PDF document(s), but had
incorrectly saved another type document with the .PDF extension. How do you
check if it's a PDF? Open the file in a hex editor, and make sure you see the
PDF signature at the top of file.

I get the same problem  BUT some users are able to open the .pdf files, other
cannot. More: initially I thought this was because of the different
versions. Users with Acrobat 5.0 could read the files  and users with Acrobat
6.0 couldn't but at the end this wasn't the cause.
Still looking for a solution: it looks like a problem in SPS not in .pdf
file. Last thing: the same files saved locally or in a network share work
well for all users.
