Problem in installing WSS 3.0 Beta 2

  Asked By: Alexandria Kim         Date: Jan 14, 2006      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 277

I'm trying to install WSS 3.0 Beta 2. Before doing this, I
installed
* Windows server 2003 with SP1
* SQL Server 2000 with SP3
* .NET 2.0
* WinFx
* Windows Workflow Foundation Beta 2.
But when I try to install WSS 3.0 Beta 2's setup.exe after this, I'm
getting a Setup Error as:

Setup is unable to proceed due to following errors:
This product requires Windows Workflow Foundation Beta 2(build
3.0.3807.7 or later). Please refer....

but the thing is I already installed this and it is in my 'Add or
remove program list'. I tried searching solution for this using
google.but no use....

I suspect that you had an earlier WF beta  on the box. Unfortunately,
those early builds did not have uninstall options. I remember having to
download a special uninstall program and editing the registry to get rid
of an early WF build.

When installing  any of the WSS v3 Betas, I suggest starting with a clean
install of the OS.

And at this point you should go ahead and install  the TR instead of just beta  2. There’s nothing to slipstreaming it into a new install, and it saves you from installing  WWF. WWF is built into the .NET 3 beta that you need for the TR, so you kill both birds with one stone.

I concur and you need to hurry. I don't think that the B2TR bits are
going to be downloadable for much longer.

Make sure to double check that you got the right build of WWF. There are several versions of the Windows Workflow Beta that are still downloadable. You have to have the right Build number. Otherwise you get exactly the error that you are reporting. You can check the build number by clicking on the Support info link on the Windows Workflow entry in Add/Remove programs.
