Problem i got while creating the Portal

Can anyone plz tell me why did i recieved
this error, i have installed Sharepoint Portal Server
2003, did the farm settings, and then created the
portal site, i did successfully created the portal
site but got this error plz help.

Error:
The portal site was created successfully but search
configuration failed. See the application event logs
on the search servers (SQLSERVER2) for details. After
the search configuration issues are resolved, search
will automatically be configured.

This might be a shot in the dark, but is the MSSearch service
running on your search  servers? See if it is, and if it isn't,
start it up and see if that solves the problem.
