Problem extending a web app to another web site

Asked By: Marissa    Date: Apr 12    Category: MOSS    Views: 5928

Running MOSS2007.

I have a web app running on port 80. I am attempting to extend it such that is
has a SSL port (443) running as well for non-windows users to use to prevent
their passwords from being in the clear. After filling in the form to extend the
app I get the following:

An item with the same key has already been added.

I don't have anything using 443 nor is the port live on the system at this time.
I haven't had any luck searching for useful information on this error wrt this
problem (mostly search problems).

Any suggestions?

You don't want/need to extend  to add SSL to an existing web  app - you
just need to change the settings so that you have the appropriate auth
zones/AAMs setup on the existing web app, and make the settings change
in IIS to enable SSL.
