Problem with crawl of PDFs in doc lib

When I get the search results back , it appears to be indexing the list
item instead of the pdf itself. It works fine word docs.

Any suggestions?

Did you install the pdf iFilter? You need an iFilter to index the
contents of a binary file. You also need to add pdf to the list of
indexed file extensions.

...and if you can determine the proper working procedure for installing
the latest iFilter from Adobe (v9 I think), please let us know.

I've used the old version 6 iFilter, and then added a custom icon for it
in MOSS.
