Problem accessing SPS web folders

Asked By: Sydney Mckenzie         Date: Dec 11, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 247

I am having trouble accessing SPS web folders from a Win2k SP1
Workstation machine. When I try and "Add a Network Place" from the
Network Neighborhood, it gives me a "cannot access specified folder
or folder does not exist" error message immediately(as if it is not
even searching the network for this location). I have other client
machines (XP, Win2kSP1, etc) successfully connecting and able to
browse these web folders.

It is most likely not security related as simple domain users (who
do not have special role privilages) can access these same folders
from their workstations. It seems to be machine-specific, but I'm
still trying to figure out what could be different between the
machines that allows some to access the SPS and one to fail. I
installed the SPS client software, but this didn't have any effect,
as I expected, since I could access these web folders from machines
without the SPS client software installed.

Does anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong here?
