Printing a web part

First time posting here. We have a web part that does
nothing but open a document. The problem we are having is printing
the document. The print button does not target the web part, it
prints the whole page, dashboard and all. Since this is opening a
document, we can't add a javascript print link. Does anyone have any
ideas?

can you check out what rights have been given to the user who is accessing the
document, I presume that the user does not have even author rights to the
document, thus this problem.
