prescan.exe: Can it be run against a particular port number?

Asked By: Tyson    Date: Oct 10    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1361

Do you know if prescan.exe can be run against a particular port number?

e.g. prescan.exe /v http://myserver:1959

(Prescan.exe doesn't seem to recognize the port when I run the above)

Our client has an SSL-enabled SPS 2003 installation and for example,
the SharePoint Condiguration Analyser would only run against the aliass
http://myserver:1959

I believe that prescan  must be run  against the exact name that was used
when the Virtual Server was created.

Turns out prescan.exe can be run  against a URL for a specific SPWeb and in
this case, you can't use /ALL or /V.

...which means you have to enumerate all of the sites and run prescan.exe
for each one (e.g. for site under http://myportal:1959/sites/....)

The port  number should not be a problem, but I'm still chewing on your
other post.

much of the online help was written against Beta2, so
parts of it will be inconsistent with the UI and will be a bit out of
date.
