Is this what I need?

Asked By: Sally    Date: Mar 05    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 909

We are looking for a solution for our company to aid in bringing our
various reports to the departments of our company. Due to our size,
it is getting hard for our management teams to have the numbers where
they need them.

Sharepoint seems to be a good step in getting that to them. Is it
possible to deliver dynamic content, such as charts and graphs to the
user via web parts? How hard is it to tie back into an Access or MS
SQL database to display them? Is it just a few lines of VB script,
or a lot of dedicated maintaince?

I am envisioning a site that has various links to different
departmental pages which contain charts, graphs, and other important
information. Is this doable? Am I looking at the right product?

Yes, it would be a good  content provider. However you would have to do some
development around it to do what you are asking for. The nice this is that you
can use MS Frontpage to do a lot  of the things you are discussing. I would also
recomend using Office XP on at least the development machine and then use MS
Office XP web  componants on the machines that will be accessing them. You can
really get some nice results as you can embed spreadsheets, charts  and graphs
directly on the pages  and link them to your content.

If I embed the graphs  and reports, I
am assuming they would be dynamic  then? Any changes made would

They could be. You would have to code them to accept the data.
