Possible to search a sharepoint using a URL

Asked By: Pauline    Date: Aug 30    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 896

Consider this scenario

I have a program where i can add a custom button which launches a
browser for a given URL.

Now i want that button to send a word to sharepoint to search on. ie
i do not want to navigate through the sharepoint interface, i want to
say to sharepoint here is a word, return all docs with that word?

is this possible or do i have to use ASP perhaps - any example code
out there?

If you are asking if there is way to create a custom search  interface,
then yes. There is no existing code that you can send  a search word  to
and get back all the documents. Take a look at the sdk for SPS. You can
create a web dav /dasl request and post that to SPS and get back an xml
document with all the relevant info you need. It is not real difficult
though you will need to use xmlhttp, xml and web dav. You can also use
ado with the MSDAIPP provider.
