Possibility of creating a View on Lists based on Usergroups

Asked By: Jamel    Date: Nov 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1827

I am a newbie and had a problem of creating Views based on usergroups.

I need to create Views on a list, that shows few specific fields for
SalesPersonnel and all fields for Manager based on login.

So Manager should see only view(with all fields)
SalesPersonnel should see only view (i.e, with specific fields not all).

I really appreciate your time, if you can help me fix this issue.

You could handle that by embedding two different web parts into a web part
page...each hooked up to a different view  (one for managers, one for
sales). Then use the Audience feature of the Web Part to show the
appropriate one to the current user.

Keep in mind this isn't actually security, just a filtering/visibility
workaround. If the users figure out the URL for the list  they will be
able to see all the fields. There isn't real "column level" security in
any of the SharePoint versions/editions currently.
