Portal Link from MySite to Main Portal Page?

Asked By: Lyndsey    Date: Jul 08    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1428

I've got a MySite provider that is a different application than the main
portal site (one is port 80 and the other is port 15000).

In other words, one SSP, two separate web applications... (This is due
to my upgrade solution: DB connection)

Anyway, everything works great... the problem is that I do not have a
link to the main portal welcome page from the MySite pages.

...as an individual user, you can add a portal link by going to Site
Settings > Site Collection Administration > Portal Site Connection.

The issue it is only specific to the user that adds it, and I need this
to be global. How do I do that under MySite??

Login to your MySite provider  as an administrator. Then go to the root
SiteSettings page  for the MySite provider. If your administrative
user's Mysite site  Settings page is
http://server:150000/personal/administrator/_layouts/Settings.aspx
<http://server:150000/personal/administrator/_layouts/Settings.aspx>
then you need to manually go to
http://server:150000/_layouts/Settings.aspx
<http://server:150000/_layouts/Settings.aspx> Set the Portal
connection setting here and it will become the default for each NEW
MySite that is created. There is no way to retrofit the Portal
connection link  in already created mySites other than to change them
individually.
