Portal Area Templates

Is there any way to make a portal area template...??
I do not want site templates...or wss page template
but
"Portal Area templates." ....???

Yup. They're in the same folder as site  templates. They're all marked as
SPSxxx (e.g. SPSNEWS, SPSTOC, etc.)

Yes - just create a template  in the normal way but make sure its folder
name begins with SPS. There is an attribute on each entry in the
WEBTEMP* file that indicates whether the template is also shown when you
create team sites so if you set Hidden=TRUE it won't appear there and
will only appear when you provision an area.!

See the existing templates  for a sample of what I mean and also refer to
the SDK as all of this is documented there.

I read that in the Customization of Portal sites...but
it sounded that it can make alot of templates  not just
one...??
Am I correct that a number of templates will show
up???

I want to make specific templates for let's say
vice-president
and another for directors...will this give me the
option to do that???
