Pops up for password

Every time users enters the sps portal and sites
whether they are readers, web designers, contributors
or Administrators popsup for username, password or
domain. I am using intregrated windows auth. Any help.
I want to avoid this....

This commonly happens if you are using fully-qualified domain names but you haven't added the URL to the Trusted or Intranet zones.

If you are using FQDNs, just add the URL into the trusted zone and it should work.

If u r using IE u will find under Tools->Internet Options
Select "Security" tab. Scroll down to the very end. There your settings
might be set to Prompt for User name and Passowrd.

If this is not so then some content on your portal site does not allow
access to everyone. On keying in your username and password three times
you will be shown the Access denied page. the url of this page,
contains the GUID of the content, causing the problem....

Has anyone seen multiple challenges where site is already in local
intranet zone, browsers are configured for log on automatically AND the
users are in same AD domain as server !

I am experiencing this same issue
1. Not IE (verified Prompt for User Name and Password is not selected)
2. Individual(s) are added to the portal / team site as users
3. Active Directory properties all seem to be mirrored.

I noticed that some of the images on the news section shows an empty image placeholder where an image normally resides.

Need help. If anyone can assist please let me know

This sounds similar to something we experienced here. Unless we specifically
added our domain into the intranet zone (e.g., *.domainname.com), people would
be prompted for images etc. To try this out:

In IE, go to Internet Options
Click Security tab
Click on Sites button in Intranet section
Click on Advanced button.
Add the website that you want to trust in the intranet zone or in our case we
trusted anything that ended in <domainname>.com.

Thanks. I've tried this method with no luck. All signs point to profile specific. I can log onto the users PC in question and not get the individual pop up's. Anything else you an think of?

I have two users with the same issue.

I have checked the IE settings
They are added to the Portal and the site.
I can log on the the site from their machine as myself.
They receive the same prompt from another computer.

Any thoughts?

What you are saying is the problem is specific to those 2 users and is not linked to the PC they are logged in. I will try to remove them from the portal and add them again. Lastly, I will try to delete them from AD and add the user again. They may be an issue with the user SID

This solved this issue. Removed the users in question from the portal, cleared all history, cookies etc. Nothing changed - still getting the popups for password.

Deleted the user from Active Directory
Copied another AD User that was not getting this error and pasted the old information.
Went to Portal > site settings > manage profile database and ran a full import
Logged the user completely out and back in.
Pop Up is GONE.

Only concern is will this impact MySite for the individuals? Since I deleted the profile and recreated it will it be necessary for the users to recreate their MySite? Is their a way I can perform a manual import to sync up the two data files?

I am experiencing one side effect of your solution. It deleted the MySite for the individual and will not allow to create another. If the user attempts to go to MySite they get an error stating that a MySite has already been created. Does anyone know how I can purge the MySite association with this user ID to start from scratch?
