Poll web part

Asked By: Guy    Date: Mar 28    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2195

I am trying to learn sharepoint and this is my first week. I have
dowloaded Poll Web Part
(philwicklund.com/freeware/polling/default.aspx) from codeplex.
The file which was downloaded is a wsp file.

Is there a way to see the source code of the web part ? ( I am
assuming that projects on codeplex are opensource )

You'll need to go back to codeplex to get the source  code. What you downloaded
is the solution for installing the finished web  part. It doesn't include the
source code.

Welcome to the madness that is SharePoint development .
If it's not obfuscated, then you can open the web  part with Reflector, a
free download from Red Gate Software. It shows you the entire object model
and dissassembled source  code of the whole .NET framework, along with any
third-party .NET assemblies that you choose to open with it.

Make a copy of the wsp file  and then save the copy with the extension
Extract cab files contents using zipping tool and you will see the dll
and other supporting files inside it.
