Pointing your MOSS server to additional SQL Servers (for reporting services)?

Asked By: Paul    Date: Apr 29    Category: MOSS    Views: 727

We have just recently started looking at utilizing reporting services in SharePoint integrated mode. In the documentation I've found, they mention only one SharePoint and one SQL server.

The reporting services server we have is separate from the SQL server that hosts our config DB and content DBs.

Is it even possible to have an additional SQL tied into Central Admin (for reporting services) or do we need to do the basic install of MOSS onto the SQL server that currently hosts the config DB etc?

Check this link:

Configuring Reporting Services for SharePoint 3.0 Integration:
msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326356.aspx

(Same applies to MOSS)

I'm about to publish a blog post about the complete setup and configuration for SQL 2008.
