PII on SharePoint Portal

Asked By: Sarojini    Date: Oct 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1478

I have been tasked with identifying any personal identifiable
information on our Corporate Portal. We are currently using SharePoint
2003. In the beginning I searched on several keywords such as SSN,
social security number, etc to find documents that might contain PII. We
are now looking at products that will search the portal for questionable
content. One product that we are currently evaluating is Identity
Finder. While this is a good product I need for it to be able to hit
every page within a reasonable time. They have been very accommodating
since this is a beta product. Right now it is doing a web page search
and hits every page. However I would like to know if anyone know how I
can get it to search the portal without hitting every page form the
Internet. Can I set it to search the database or web server. One
SharePoint customer has the product hitting the content in the inetpub
directory. I was a little confused by that since I thought that all
content was housed on the SQL database.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
