Picture Gallery Customization

Asked By: Arielle    Date: Apr 24    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1069

I need to customize the existing Picture Gallery list. I have copied
the list definition from the 12 hive and given it a different ID, Name
etc. I can create a new list from this template. The problem is that
when I try to upload photos using my new list template the thumbnail
images are not created. When I look at the OOTB picture gallery it
resizes the images automatically and saves them in folders called _t
and _w and stores the full size image in the root of the gallery. Has
anyone successfully customized the photo gallery and if so can they
point me in the right direction? Or if you know how to manually call
the resize that would be helpful as well.

What customizations do you need to make from the
existing Picture Gallery template? Just wondering why
you're going to all the trouble of copying the list
def.

My intent was to create  a more seamless interface for the user and use
custom forms in my sites look and feel. This is for a public facing
internet site so I wanted to make creating a photo gallery  look like
creating a public page.

why not
• create  a list  based upon the existing  picture
gallery template
• associate whatever form content types you want to
that list
• save list as a template

have you tried that? I'm thinking your approach is
more difficult than necessary.
