Picture on Discussion Boards

I'm getting the hang of SharePoint Services 3 but still learning so
forgive me if this is an easy fix.

Is there a way to remove users pictures or the picture icons from
discussion board entries but still display their names? I didn't
anything in Google nor in SPS Help.

Try insert the following to your css file.

td.ms-disc-bordered img{

display:none;

}

Or I guess you can customize Flat.aspx with sharepoint  designer.

I assume the above methods work for WSS 3 although I only test it on
MOSS.

I will certainly give them a try.

yes, flat.aspx is the view that by default contains the "posted by"
user's picture. Modify that view. Uncheck the "Posted By (picture
and name)" field, and instead, select the "Created By" field.
Put "Created By" as #1 in order. That solves your issue.
