Personalization of SPPS

Asked By: Abhilash Kurlekar         Date: Dec 26, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 163

1. Is it possible to implement "personalization" in the proper sense
of the word in SPPS? That is the Content, Layout and Settings links
are visible only to the co-ordinator in SPPS implementation. One can
hardly call this as personalization. The dashboard factory for SQL
Server dashboard however, has a role called as "write personal"
wherein true personalization is possible. Can this functionality be
had in SPPS?

2. In the same vein, would it be recommended to use the SQL Dashboard
factory only for the homepage dashboard and the Sharepoint dashboard
factory for the other dashboards?

3. On clicking the document library tab, I want to directly show the
sub-folders in the documents folder. One way would be to modify
TahoUtils.asp, other would be to modify dashboard.asp. In both these
approaches however, we would modify the MSFT implementations. These
changes would be lost whenever a new release of SharePoint is made
available. Is it still recommended to do this? Or is there an elegant
way to achieve the same functionality?
