Personal view of Home area

I have some web parts on the home area. I have given one of the user
contributor access. He is unable to view is personal page, leave alone
edit it. I searched google and found a trick to append "?contents=1" to
the URL to edit the personalization of home page. But He still is unable
to make any changes. Even I as an administrator am able to see My
personal page but that's about it. I am unable to edit it.

Actually, by default the allowpersonalization field is set to false for
all web part zones on area. So for any area you want to personalize, you
have to go to its default.aspx file and set allowpersonalization = true
for the web part zones which you want to personalize. For example for
home area the file is C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web
server extensions\60\TEMPLATE\1033\SPS\default.aspx
