Personal Sites Link Issue

Asked By: Kari    Date: Feb 20    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1678

First I would like to thank the people for starting this listserv. It has been a great help to me and my work related with SharePoint.

I’m having a problem that I can’t find an answer to online and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I just recently migrated our SharePoint farm from an older set of servers to a new set of servers. Everything seemed to work fine until I attempted to click on a person’s link that would normally take you to that person’s page. Now what happens is the URL refers back to the old server DNS and all the slashes are missing. For example:
Before migration URL: http://server1/_vti_bin/portalapi.aspx?Cmd=ShowProfile&AccountName=
After migration the URL is http://server1_vti_bin/portalapi.aspx?Cmd=ShowProfile&AccountName=
Where server1 should be server2 DNS and where is the slash between the DNS and _vti is missing.

Any ideas?

How many profiles do you have?
Are you doing profile imports on a schedule?
I don't know if that would mess with the URL or not but it would be a
place to look.
As a test, pick someone you don't like and delete the profile.
Force an import and check the link.
Couldn't hurt and if it does, you didn't like them anyway.

I've noticed that this error only happens with WSS sites  and not SPS. I
still am not sure what would be causing this. What file(s) would be
responsible for generating these links in WSS?
