When adding a user to a workspace at the top level (sharepoint administrator
panel) The user is able to get the webfolder view but when going to the
browser (dashboard) he gets prompt for a username and password. Does anybody
have a answer?

What Authentication method is set in IIS? How are the users accessing the
Dashboard?By FQDN or NetBios?

If Allow Anonymous is enabled and the NTFS permisions don't allow IUSR_machine
access, login prompt  appears.

If using NetBIOS access and you don't have Integrated NTLM checked, login prompt
appears.

Another idea is to start and stop the services. SPS will cache security
info and sometimes you need to wait until the cache is refreshed.
Bouning the server or at least the services will clear the cache.
