Permissions question for Tasks

Asked By: Sonya Fletcher         Date: Feb 13, 2010      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 370

I have a user that posed the following question:

"I have a permissions question related to SharePoint Task lists. I
would like to leverage the SharePoint tool to automate some of our
follow up activities. We haven't used it in the past as we didn't want
others to see all of the list items.

I thought I had seen where we could have it so you could only view and
read the items assigned to you. I had created the list at the following
location: http://audit/wg/Ex8/Lists/Tasks2/AllItems.aspx I assigned an
issue to Chrissie and she cannot see the issue with the permissions
below. I kept tweaking and never found a good answer.

I know one workaround could be is to create a view(s) filtered by [me]
and make that the only options for public views. My main concern is
that someone figures out a way to see all of the issues. I would be
relying on users not knowing how to create views."
I do not know of a way OOB to accomplish this, and do not have the
knowledge as to whether or not this could be accomplished with any
custom programming. Can someone tell me if it is possible?
