We have seen that for Readers of a given portal Portal, the Add to My Links option does not seem to appear in the left hand navigation when in an area. But on main portal page, if I place the My Links webpart, I do get the Add to My Links option and can manage the links with the default private page of MySite.

We believe that this is due to the fact that we have unchecked default "create personal site" for all but portal administrators, as checking this makes Add to MyLinks appear again in each Portal Area . We do not wish to check the "create personal site" as we are reluctant to rollout full personal sites functionality (yet)

Does anyone know of a workaround to get this Add to MyLinks appear in another way ?
