Permissioning web parts

Asked By: Theresa    Date: Oct 01    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 638

Does anyone know if there is a way to permission web parts (in SPS
2203)? Basically the idea is that you would only be able to see web
parts that you have access to. If you don't have access you
wouldn't see them on the page, and you wouldn't be able to pick them
from the listing.

You can use audiences.
Audiences lets you destine contents(web parts, elements,...) to a group of
users.
Only the users who belong to the audience will see that content.

Be aware - audiences are not permissions, but more akin to filters. Just
because the user is not a member of the audience doesn't mean they don't have
access, it just means the item is hidden in that view...
