People Search stopped working

Asked By: Gregory    Date: Jan 12    Category: MOSS    Views: 10376

I really need some help getting my people search to work. At one point,
it worked flawlessly, but all of a sudden stopped. I have done an AD
User Profile import and it shows 3608 people that have been imported.
When I look at the import logs, it shows all of the people it had
imported. I chose a successful import (from the import log) and did a
search for that person and the only thing that I get back is the
following message:

No results matching your search were found.

1. Check your spelling. Are the words in your query spelled
2. Try using synonyms. Maybe what you're looking for uses slightly
different words.
3. Make your search more general. Try more general terms in place
of specific ones.
4. Try your search in a different scope. Different scopes can have
different results.

Is there a way to clear out the current AD accounts from MOSS and start
over? If so, how? Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Have you also done a new indexing run in the Search settings? Sounds
like maybe a scheduled full index failed and wiped out your people

Yes. Make sure you are still crawling SPS3://mysitehost.

Note that if you're using HTTPS, it actually is sps3s://mysitehost.
This caused us headaches for a while.

What changed before it stopped  working?

The server was physically moved from one location to another. The site
search works ok, it is just the people  search that is not working.
