people search with FBA?

Asked By: Tim    Date: Jun 10    Category: MOSS    Views: 1254

I'm using form based authentication with SQLmembership provider.
Does sharepoint2007 support people search with FBA?
In search center, I tried but it returned nothing.

FBA based  Portals alone will not support  the Search
you need to extend the same web application with windows based and include the
newly extended web application in crwal rule and do a full crwal and try for
search results

People search  in Search center  is searching Profiles, not user data.
Profiles are normally imported from AD, so usually it looks like the
same data, but its actually stored elsewhere in SharePoint. You can
import data from your FBA membership provider  database to profiles if
you have Office SharePoint Server 2007 enterprise by using a BDC
application definition of the membership provider database.

I suspect you are trying to add the user by adding a group that they are
a member of. In an FBA environment there you implement a Membership
provider for recognizing individual users and a Role provider  for
groups. You need to add an appropriate Rolemanager provider if you are
going to use groups.
