People search 404 error on my own profile page

Asked By: Amie Goodwin         Date: Dec 15, 2008      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 929

I currently have my sites turned off so that only profile pages should be viewed
when you select a user name. I can view all other users except me. I get a page
not found when clicking my own name. This happens with anyone that clicks their
own name. Is there a permission setting I'm missing? Any direction would be
helpful.

This is my first post, but have been using this group to answer most of my
issues.

After looking at my issue closer, I found that the peopleresults.aspx is not
recognizing who I am. At least I'm assuming this because it doesn't show the
"Me" heading and I have the "Add to My Colleagues" link next to my name. Also
missing is the "Results by Social Distance" option.

Hope this gives anyone a clue of my issue.

For anyone that cares...

I found a solution that worked for me. I had to create a new SSP, create a new
web app for my sites, and moved my intranet web app under the new SSP. Imported
all profiles on new SSP and started new Search crawl. All works as it should
now.

This worked for me because I did not have any My Sites created (not an option
for users right now). Not sure if this would completely work if I needed to
connect to existing My Site Collections.

My guess is the SSP was corrupted so how.
