PDF icon for selected group

Asked By: Tara    Date: Jul 12    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 819

I read a lot about adding a pdf icon for the .pdf file types. My
problem has to do with the pdf icon showing up in the doc libraries.
The icons are displayed properly only for people in the admin group.

Everyone else will be prompted to enter the password, and after 3
times, the document library displays without the icon, but the files
are there for viewing and editing.

I read another person saying that this is a NTFS permissions issue,
but not sure the exact resolution.

Check the permissions  on the gif you put in the images directory for pdf's. It
probably had permissions set directly instead of inheriting from the parent
directory and needs to be reset.

right click on the pdf16.gif, go to security, then click advanced.. there should
be a check box to inherit the permissions  from the parent folder, click apply
and OK - that will solve you issue.
