Password protection

Asked By: Grace Lewis         Date: Nov 01, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 434

I am fairly new to Sharepoint and this is probably ridiculously
easy...nonetheless, I wanted to find out how to password protect a sub
area, or contents in a sub area on my portal. Any help would be much
appreciated.

To my knowledge, I dont think there is "password protection" feature built in
within WSS. You can control access via site administration or configure users
accordingly and restrict them with necessary access. Pbly, can someone develope
a web part to meet your needs ?

You can deny anonymous users to access a specific website.
Select the site, then go to: Site Settings -> Go to Site Administration ->
Manage anonymous access, then set-up as you wish.

Also this site can have its own collection of users not inherited from parent
site.
