Parms for EditDocumentWithProgID2 in onclick event

  Asked By: Anish    Date: May 14    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 4912

I created a cmlist.aspx page. In Frontpage, I inserted a custom list
(list #1) on top of the page, a Data View of the document library
(list #2) on the bottom. Then connected the two lists through the
ChangeControlID. Attached is the page with two lists. Everything
works as expected so far. I want to be able to edit the document in
Word. So I modified the URL link to:

(this, 'FALSE', 'FALSE', 'FALSE', 'SharePoint.OpenDocuments.2')" href=
"/is/change/Shared Documents/Change Control

When I click on a list item on the list #1, the appropriate documents
associated with the item appears on the bottom. However, when I click
on the url link on the #2 list, it opens the document in "READ ONLY"
mode in Word. When I tried to save the changes, it prompted me to
select a saving location on my local hard drive, not the original Web
storage. I have the "DispDocItemEx" function in the <A> link. Can I
change it to "EditDocumentWithProgID2"? I am not sure what is the
parms should I supply with the function. I just want the user to be
able to save the changes without worry about the saving location.

You can use the below code to open word  docs in edit  mode.
var stsOpen=new ActiveXObject("SharePoint.OpenDocuments.3");
var bool = stsOpen.EditDocument2(window,link,"");
