Page Redirect 404

Asked By: Alyssa    Date: Jul 04    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2878

We are switch from an old php site to a new publishing site early next
week. One thing I am not sure how to handle is the redirect from
google, yahoo, etc search results that are pointing to the old php
pages. Right now, they will get a page not found 404 and I would like
to redirect them to the new sharepoint landing page.

I found an article that talks about overriding the 404 file in the
tweleve hive, but that seems like it have to be the case for all sites
on the server.

There must be a way to accomplish this per site.

I wrote up a blog entry on some redirection options in SharePoint and
IIS. Hopefully you'll find something in there that helps.

You may want to investigate your firewall capabilities.
ISA could handle the redirection without involving your WFEs at all.

This article ended up doing the trick.
