What page editors are folks out there using with SPS v2? FrontPage?
Studio? Notepad? I have not played much with FP2003 but am curious if
there are decent tools built in for advanced editing of the SPS site.

Really the only editor you can use to do a lot of advanced  UI editing  is
ProntPage 2003. VS.Net has pretty much no UI editing functionality built
into it. If you want to edit the templates or themes you will need FP 2003.
I am sorry to say that I wish they had built  that functionality into Studio
instead.
