OWA Web parts

  Asked By: Dale    Date: Aug 09    Category: MOSS    Views: 1443

Is there a way to use the OWA Web parts in MOSS 2007 and Exchange 2003
on a SharePoint site that multiple users use? We want the OWA Web Part
to auto login and use a variable for the username

Not exactly - the autoconfigure behavior in moss  2007 depends on
Exchange 2007 since the OWA web  parts are really just iFrames pointed at
a special OWA URL. I vaguely remember someone coming up with a way to
do what you wanted in SPS2003, but who and where escapes me. If you can
find that, chances are good the same approach would work in MOSS.

If all of you users have Outlook, you could use the Outlook View Control... it
will display the Inbox, Calendar, Tasks or Contacts of the current user.

Add a Content Editor Web Part and add the following:

<OBJECT classid=CLSID:0006F063-0000-0000-C000-000000000046
id=ViewCtlFolder
width="100%"
height="430"
Codebase="activex.microsoft.com/.../outlctlx.CAB#ver=\
9,0,0,3203">>
<param name="Namespace" value="MAPI">
<param name="Folder" value="Calendar">
<param name="Restriction" value="">
<param name="DeferUpdate" value="0">
</OBJECT>

You can also use this with Public Folders if you desire.

I read that the OWA Web Parts for MOSS 2007 were only able to access an Exchange
2003 system in a read-only fashion. Is this not the case?

There are only 10 types of people in this world:
Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
