Outlook integration

Asked By: Nicholas    Date: Mar 13    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 869

We just discovered partial integration between Events in SP and one's
Outlook calendar.
For an event, do this----- Export/Open--- and up pops your Outlook
calendar and you can save the event

Now---- if the event changes in SP, that change is NOT rippled down to

Docs anyone know of a setting that enables this?-- does anyone know
if this functionality is coming down the pipe?

When you save  that item to your own calendar, you've saved a
disconnected copy. I don't know if that's a feature in vNext, but
instead of saving the event  to your calendar, sis you know you can add
the SharePoint calendar  as a vew in your Outlook? When you do this,
the events  will be updated. On the full toolbar, you can use Link to
Outlook to have the event calendar show up in your Outlook calendar

Are you using Services or Portal?

If you are exporting an event  to your calendar  then you are basically before a copy and paste, from what I believe.

If you use the Link Calendar to Outlook, then you are allowing them to view this sharepoint read-only calendar via Outlook. In this instance, they will see updated information when they view this calendar through their Shared Calendars in Outlook.

There is only a one-way communication between Outlook and SharePoint.
There aren't any settings that you are missing.
