Open links in new window

Asked By: Cherish    Date: Nov 09    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 9877

I have a list of links that I want to open in a new window. I've searched the
archives, but that yielded no results.

Any ideas or suggestions?

The simplest way would be to add a normal viewing web part for the list  to a
page, open  the page in SharePoint Designer, convert the list view web part to a
Data View, then edit the href tag for the appropriate column to add

I had to develop a custom field type that provided this functionality. Once
done, I could then use this for any list.

And another way of doing it would be to use the "Summary Links" web
part instead. It has a setting that lets you choose to open  a link
in a new window. Unfortunately, the links  would all have to be
manually added to this web part, and they wouldn't be in a links
list. So, if you wanted to display the same links list  on multiple
pages, you'd have to export and import the (static) web part.
