How do you open a "close" webpart

Asked By: Rocco Hendricks         Date: Aug 08, 2005      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 606

- I go in to edit page of a webpart page
- click on the webpart menu and "close" the webpart

The webpart is still on the page and is not deleted

To see the webpart listing on the page I can do

http://<portal>/default.aspx?contents=1

The page that appears shows all the webparts listed with these options

Close | Reset | Delete | Go Back to Web Part Page | Switch to shared
view

How do I open a close webpart so that it starts showing agin on the page

You have to follow the procedure for adding a Web part  and browse to
the local page  Web part gallery - the closed Web part will be stored
there.

Any "closed web  parts" are listed  in the Web part  Page Gallery when you
navigate to Add Web Parts.

It should still be listed  in the “Web Part Page Gallery” which is the first one listed when you “Modify Shared Page -> Add Web Part -> Browse”. You can just drag it into the Web Part Zone from that gallery just like you would move ones in from the other galleries.
